Community Sport Restart

A fund established to support community sports clubs, groups, events and sports facilities on school sites to get back up and running and continue to operate in a Covid safe way going forward. The fund recognises the significant role that sports opportunities and events make to the physical and mental health of the population and the importance to maintaining the viability of sports clubs, groups and organisations across the county

Economic Impact of the Sport and Physical Activity Sector in Suffolk

A comprehensive economic assessment of the Sport and Physical Activity sectors in the county to assess the value and importance it has to the Suffolk economy and to identify areas for future growth. The sector is made up of around 10,000 jobs in Suffolk, which represents 3% of all employment. It is the tenth largest in Suffolk and generates £270 million gross value to the Suffolk economy per annum

Leadership Development programme

Seminars and stakeholder events aimed at supporting and motivating organisations to further co-operate in designing, promoting and commissioning activities that drive participation in sport and physical activity

Movement and Mental Health

As part of our work to promote better mental health, the programme and experts from Suffolk Mind have produced an e-learning module all about the benefits of movement to our mental health and how, by moving more, it can help us all enhance our wellbeing.

Parkrun Practices

The parkrun practice initiative enables GPs and practice staff to socially prescribe physical activity by referring patients to take part in a parkrun. To date 23 GP practices across Suffolk have become certified parkrun practices and are promoting their local parkrun to their patients

Suffolk Exercise Referral Quality Standard

The county-wide standard is the first of its kind in the UK and aims to reassure GPs and health professionals that they can refer to exercise referral programmes in the knowledge accredited facilities are successfully delivering programmes that have been rigorously tested using ‘real-world’ criteria

Suffolk Sports Facilities Framework

A framework to support the development of sporting facilities across Suffolk and provide coherence between local district and borough council sports strategies
