The Tour of Britain
Britain’s biggest professional cycle race has been through the county 5 times, inspiring more than 400,000 Suffolk people.
The Great East Swim
Over two thousand people of all ages and abilities regularly take the plunge at the Great East Swim, from first timers, to veteran open water aficionados, boosting the local economy by £1.5m in the last eight years.
The Women’s Tour
For 3 consecutive years, Suffolk has hosted this world-leading ladies event, which is now a part of the UCI’s Women’s World Tour.
Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton Relay
Suffolk welcomed the Queen’s Baton Relay in 2014. Events were held across the county promoting participation in sport and physical activity. In total 10,000 people attended including 2,000 school children.
Suffolk has twice hosted a unique national event that brings together riders from the world of BMX, Mountain Bike, Downhill, Track and Road Racing.
Suffolk Saxon’s Professional Badminton Team
One of three professional sports teams in Suffolk, the Saxon’s are competing in the exciting AJ Bell National Badminton League, led by Olympian head coach Anthony Clark.
Each is characterised by a programme of activity wrapped around them to encourage and inspire people to be active whilst also levering an economic beneﬁt for the county.
